Land Clearing in Georgetown, TX: Lot, Brush and Forestry Mulching

Georgetown splits on I-35: cedar, live oak and mesquite on limestone west of the highway, blackland with hackberry and cedar elm east of it. Lots west of town along SH 29 come at 40 to 70 percent cedar canopy; lots east come with clay that holds water until May. Our crews come up from the Johnson City yard, and I have run both soils since 2015. I run a land clearing company, so you get acres, stems and a day count, not an adjective. Fill out the form or call (832) 987-3495. Teo will call you back before the end of the business day.

Land Clearing Services in Georgetown, TX

Pruitt Range & Brush provides land clearing services in Georgetown, TX and the surrounding area from the Johnson City yard, and every project is written as a scope before a trailer rolls. Residential land clearing here means cedar lots off SH 29 and blackland homesites toward the Granger side. Commercial land clearing services cover commercial sites along I-35 and the commercial development corridors on SH 130; commercial clearing of a pad on rock is a one-day job for the 300-hp machine. Inside the ETJ the Georgetown tree preservation ordinance protects heritage trees, so I measure trunks first.

  • Selective clearing and brush removal: cedar mulched in place, live oaks kept with their limbs intact.
  • Tree removal of dead or hazard trees, then we grind the stumps so the slab sits on dirt and not a root.
  • Site clearing and site preparation to a rough grade, with drainage cut to the natural draw.
  • Property clearing of fence lines and professional clearing of San Gabriel River banks under the Williamson County floodplain permit.

My site work stops at the rough grade. No concrete, wells, septic or house demolition; the excavation and grading people I hand off to are the ones I would hire. A professional land clearing service names its limits. Tell Teo what is on your tract and I will tell you which machine.

Lot Clearing for New Homes in Georgetown and Round Rock

Georgetown issued 1,462 single-family permits in 2025 by the Census Building Permits Survey, a third of the 3,945 for Williamson County, and the Census called it the fastest-growing large US city in 2022 and 2023. The land clearing projects I take are the one-acre to five-acre homesites west of I-35 where a buyer closed on solid cedar and needs a pad, a drive and a septic field opened by framing. A half-acre lot is one day with the skid steer, $2,800. Three acres at 60 percent canopy is two days plus the rock day, and I say so before the price. Depending on site conditions we mulch in place and leave a 3-inch bed, or grub the pad and haul; the site visit decides. Residential and commercial properties get the same list first: Texas 811, the plat for any pipeline or utility easement, and the heritage tree measure if the lot is inside the ETJ. Property owners get the acres-per-day log with the invoice. The crew will leave the site after a cleanup pass with the full site rough graded, site prep done, and we make your property ready for the forms crew that week.

Brush Clearing and Forestry Mulching Near Georgetown

Mulching is the land clearing method that uses specialized equipment to grind trees and cedar in place, and it turns the whole stand of vegetation into mulch by the end of the day. It is the fastest way to clear land in Williamson County because nothing gets hauled and nothing burns. Burn bans here are set by the county judge or commissioners court, and TCEQ outdoor burning rules govern piles the rest of the year. Mulch has no pile to permit. Cedar, which is ashe juniper, catches the first inch of rain in its canopy; AgriLife research on mature stands puts rainfall interception high enough that springs below a cedar brake stop running. Take the canopy under 10 percent and the seeps come back; when I wrote EQIP plans I measured that on tract after tract. Golden-cheeked warblers nest in mature cedar-oak canopy from March to July, so on our jobs west of Georgetown I schedule old-growth cedar outside that TPWD window. Oak wilt is the other calendar: Texas A&M Forest Service says no live oak wounds February to June, so we mulch cedar around the oaks without touching an oak limb then. We remove brush in areas with dense regrowth first and thin the rest to the oak motts. Large acreage clearing of overgrown land runs $900 to $1,400 an acre under 30 percent canopy and $3,000 to $4,000 in dense old growth. Cedar is the only crop in Texas nobody planted and everybody harvests. It will overgrow a cleared slope from seed inside ten years.

How Much Does Land Clearing Cost in Georgetown?

Land clearing costs in Georgetown run from $2,800 for a half-acre lot to $3,000 to $4,000 an acre in old cedar, and in between the number depends on the size of the tract, its canopy and which side of I-35 it sits on. Rock adds a day west of the highway. Wet blackland adds a day east of it in winter. Both go in the quote before the price. The land clearing Georgetown landowners pay for, in writing before the trailer leaves the yard:

  • One day of skid steer mulching is $2,800, transport included inside 60 miles of a yard, stems to about 8 inches.
  • One day of the 300-hp mulcher is $4,200 plus transport. The 8 ft head takes anything standing on the tract.
  • Bush hogging at $60 to $90 an acre, $400 minimum, and the dozer at $160 an hour with operator.
  • Haul-off at $650 to $1,200 a load, $1,100 minimum trip.
  • Cedar per acre: $900 to $1,400 when canopy is under 30 percent, $1,800 to $2,600 for medium cover, $3,000 to $4,000 for dense old-growth cedar or mesquite.
  • Bare dirt with grubbing, haul or pile, and a rough grade: $2,000 to $4,500 an acre.
  • Stump grinding at $4 per inch of diameter, $175 minimum per stump. Past 10 stumps I price the lot by the day.
  • Georgetown is a few miles outside the 60-mile transport circle from Johnson City, so transport is one short line item in the quote.
