Land Clearing Services in Mansfield
Pruitt Range & Brush provides land clearing, lot clearing, brush removal, stump grinding and rough grading for residential and commercial properties in Mansfield, TX and the surrounding area. Six scopes cover every project on this side of Tarrant County:
- Residential land clearing for a homesite: brush to grade, protected trees fenced off, rough grade, cleanup.
- Commercial land clearing services and commercial clearing for commercial sites and commercial development along US 287 and SH 360.
- Selective clearing and property clearing on 2 to 20 acres: hackberry and mesquite out, post oak and pecan kept.
- Brush clearing and professional clearing on pasture that went back to brush, chips left in place.
- Tree removal of stems to 8 inches; larger trunks cut and hauled by the load.
- Full site clearing, site preparation, land improvement and landscape clearing to the rough grade.
Site work stops at the rough grade. Excavation for foundations, wells, septic and house demolition are other trades, and I know people who do them. The Mansfield tree preservation ordinance protects trees above a set trunk diameter inside city limits and asks for a tree survey before removal, and our professional land clearing service reads that survey before the estimate, not after. Send me the survey and I will mark what the city says stays and what I would keep anyway.
Lot Clearing for New Homes in Mansfield and Midlothian
Mansfield issued 675 single-family permits in 2025 by the Census Building Permits Survey, out of 8,658 in Tarrant County, and Midlothian across the Ellis County line is building on larger lots. A half-acre lot is one day with the skid steer mulcher, $2,800, transport included from Weatherford. An acre of hackberry and bois d'arc with a dozen stumps is two days. Property owners get both numbers in writing at the site visit.
Blackland sets the schedule on most Mansfield lots. Wet ground adds a day between November and April, and I say so before the price. Drainage is the second check, because Walnut Creek and its branches put a good share of the city inside a FEMA mapped floodplain, and dirt moved there needs a county floodplain development permit first. Before we grind a stump we call 811, since a gas pipeline and buried electric cross the US 287 corridor under the brush. Depending on site conditions, stumps go 8 inches below grade and chips go on the downhill side to slow runoff. Mesquite roots go deeper than most wells I have watched drilled, so we grind the crown, not just the trunk. My site prep stops at the rough grade. Send me the plat and the on-site estimate will tell you what it takes to make your property slab-ready.
Brush Clearing and Forestry Mulching Near Mansfield
Forestry mulching is a land clearing method that uses specialized equipment to grind trees, brush and vegetation into mulch in one pass, mulched in place with no pile to burn or haul. Near Mansfield that is the cheapest way to clear land you are not scraping to dirt, and inside a city with a tree ordinance it is the only method that works around protected trunks without wounding roots. The county judge or commissioners court declares a burn ban most dry summers, and TCEQ outdoor burning rules govern piles the rest of the year; a mulched lot has neither problem.
Mesquite is the main pasture job south of town. Bush hogging alone fails because the root crown sends up a dozen stems the same summer, so the mulcher cuts the crown at grade and we treat the stem that day. In light mesquite the skid steer makes 3 to 5 acres a day. Overgrown land that is areas with dense hackberry and 8-inch bois d'arc in the creek bottoms runs 1 to 2 acres a day. Large acreage clearing over 15 acres gets the 300-hp mulcher and the 8 ft head. We remove brush to grade and leave the site under two inches of chips, which hold the blackland through spring rains and keep the weed flush down. On our jobs in Tarrant County a cleared lot left alone will overgrow in five summers; a chipped lot comes back slower and thinner.
How Much Does Land Clearing Cost in Mansfield?
Land clearing costs in the Mansfield area run $2,800 for a half-acre lot and $900 to $4,000 an acre to mulch, set by canopy percent. Add-ons come before the price: wet blackland adds a day in winter, a stump count over ten moves the grinding to a day rate, and a city tree survey adds a visit but no charge from me.
- Skid steer mulcher: $2,800 a day, transport included within 60 miles of our Weatherford yard.
- 300-hp mulcher, 8 ft head: $4,200 a day plus transport.
- Per-acre mulching: $900 to $1,400 light (under 30 percent canopy), $1,800 to $2,600 medium, $3,000 to $4,000 for dense old mesquite.
- Full clearing to dirt, grubbed, hauled, rough graded: $2,000 to $4,500 an acre.
- Stump grinding: $4 per inch of diameter, $175 minimum per stump.
- Bush hogging $60 to $90 an acre, $400 minimum. Dozer grubbing $160 an hour with operator.
- Haul-off $650 to $1,200 a load. Minimum trip $1,100.
The total depends on the size of the lot, the canopy and the ground that week. I read canopy by pacing it off, the way I did for twelve years of EQIP brush plans, and I walk the property with you so we both see the same number. A tract outside the city under an NRCS brush management plan, practice 314, gets 50 to 75 percent of the payment-schedule rate back as EQIP cost-share. Serving Mansfield and Nearby Midlothian, Kennedale, Venus and Arlington
From Mansfield the Weatherford crew works a short loop on the south side of the DFW metro. Kennedale and Arlington are north on US 287 and SH 360, each with tree rules inside its limits. Midlothian is east on US 287 in Ellis County, bigger lots and deeper blackland. Venus is south on FM 157 in Johnson County, pasture reclaim country. Our services in Mansfield are the same list and the same prices in each of them.
A land clearing company serving three counties from one yard carries three floodplain maps and four tree ordinances. We run land clearing services across Dallas-Fort Worth and the same services throughout the DFW area and the rest of North Texas. The land clearing Mansfield owners ask for most is a half-acre lot with protected trees kept, and the price is the same $2,800 a day it is anywhere else. Tell Teo your town and your acreage and he will put you on the crew's board.
